Avian Health (suggestions to help maintain the health of your bird)
- Time - the more the better
- Time with you - at least an hour a day
- Time out of his cage - at least 2-4 hours per day
- To Clip or Not to Clip
- Strongly recommended for the safety of your bird
- If you clip - clipping your bird's wings should only be done by an avian professional
- If you don't clip - don't leave doors or windows open and try to make your house as "bird safe" as possible
- Nail Trims - trimming your bird's nails should only be done by an avian professional
- Sleep - 10-12 hours per night, especially if you notice him getting cranky
- Toys - try to give him a new toy at least once a month
- Showers or Baths - 2-3 times per week to aid in grooming and keeping feathers healthy
- Veterinarian Care - annual checkups recommended
